Ultimate Puzzle Challenge: Pencil Frenzy - Helene Hovanec
This title is part of a fantastic series featuring problem-solving games for seven-to-nine-year-olds. It includes fun puzzles, like picture crosswords, fill-in-the-grid challenges, spot the difference and other brain-teasers. It is aimed at children aged 7 to 10. Kids will have a blast taking this challenge! Helene Hovanec, whose books have become a huge success, has created another fantastic series featuring problem-solving games for seven-to-nine-year-olds. "Pencil Frenzy" includes loads of fun puzzles, like picture crosswords, fill-in-the-grid challenges, spot the difference, riddles, code breaking and other brainteasers. Like Hovanec's other books, this has an educational slant that will be popular with parents and teachers, but kids will love it too.
I was interested to have a good look at this book when it arrived, especially as my daughter (age 8) loves puzzles. There are a great range of puzzles in this book - fill in the missing letters, mazes, memory, observation puzzles word searches and opposites. some of the puzzles are educational.
Although i thought the book was a good buy, i was disappointed that some of the puzzles are 'Americanised', with puzzles including American spellings or American colloquialisms, which i think could be confusing for the target audience (age 7-9 years).
