Horrid Henry hates sports day. And he hates the cross-country run more
than any other event. But just as he is heaving his weary bones to the
starting line, he has a wonderful, spectacular idea of how to win the
race.
As any Horrid Henry fan knows, where ever Henry is, there is bound to be trouble! And the school's annual sport's day is no exception. Horrid Henry uses all of his devious plans to win the race and lets no one else have the cup!
This story was originally published in Horrid Henry Gets Rich Quick but has been re-released as a standalone book in the popular Easy Reader series by Orion Children's Books.
It is a fantastic book to give to children, especially this time of year when sports days are happening, as well as the London 2012 Olympics. It is just right for children who are growing in confidence in their own reading ability and want to read 'grown up' books. However there are still plenty of pictures in this book too - with fantastic illustrations by Tony Ross who captures the story perfectly in them.
Thank you to the publishers, Orion Children's Books, for sending me the book to review.
