Boo! by Tracey Corderoy and Caroline Pedler

Boo!

Hullabaloo the rabbit loves playing boo!But when he jumps out to surprise his friends he causes chaos - Squirrel lands in a puddle...splat!Hedgehog topples over...crash!And poor Timid Mouse bursts into tears!"NO MORE BOOS!" everyone shouts.Whatever will Hullabaloo do? A hilarious book about a very playful rabbit by children's favourite Tracey Corderoy (author of Hubble, Bubble Granny Trouble and The Grunt and The Grouch) this noisy tale is perfect for boisterious, full-of-beans four to six year old children.

Regular readers of my blog will know that Tracey Corderoy is a firm favourite children's author of both myself and my chidlren and I love receiving all of her books to review. They are also so different - lots of adorable, cute and cuddly characters along with the Grunt and the Grouch who are adorable in their own special way!

In her latest book, Boo! is definitely an adorable, cute and cuddly character. An adorable rabbit who loves to surprise his friends by bounding on in with a great big BOO! The story is, as ever, fantastically written, and there is a moral to the story, encouraging young children not to surprise everyone all the time when announcing one's arrival. The pictures are also adorable, each character cute and loveable. I think I like the hedgehogs the best, but it is a difficult decision.

The book would make a fantastic book to share at storytime, although it may get a little noisy at bedtime as I am sure little ones will want to shout 'Boo!' throughout the story. Great for little ones (under 5's) to share with their peers.

Thank you to the publishers, Little Tiger Press, for sending me the book to review in return for an honest review.

Butterfly and the Birthday Surprise (Fairies of Blossom Bakery) by Mandy Archer and Kirsteen Harris-Jones

Fairies of Blossom Bakery: Butterfly and the Birthday Surprise - Cupcake Fairies 4

Butterfly wants everything to be perfect for her perfect birthday party. She's got her dress, her cake and the fairies are helping her with the invites and decoration. But when it rains and everybody has to go home the other fairies help to save the day! A gorgeous series about fairies, friendship and baking!

A series of books about the Blossom Bakery fairies, six fairies who all bake and each have their own favourite bakes. In this instalment, Butterfly is organising the best birthday party ever, however, as is often in life, rain hampers premade plan!

The book begins with a map of Blossom Bakery, a land where all the fairies live. Just looking at the map I want to know more about the land as there is Princess Crystals Royal Palace , along with Goblin Grotto and Dark Wood Cave.  Although the book is a picture story it is more suitable for older children as the story is rather long, with big chunks of story on each page. The pictures all look hand drawn and are great pieces of work - the only thing missing from the illustrations is a little fairy magic glittering! The book ends with a cupcake recipe straight from Blossom Bakery.

This would be a great book for fairy loving cupcake making girls. It would be a great present along with some cake decorating materials to decorate the recipe at the back of the book. As it is part of a series, I am sure lots of little girls will enjoy collecting the whole series. It would also be perfect as a theme for a birthday party.

Thank you to the publishers, Random House Children's Books, for sending me the book to review.

Plus there are over 400 cute puppy stickers to have fun with long after the reader has finished the puzzles.

Holly Webb is a favourite author in our house, my daughter loves all of her animal books and this is an activity book based around a cute puppy which I am sure is based upon one of Webb's story books.

The first thing I found when I opened the book was a beautiful door hanger to cut out saying "Sssssh Reading in Progress". It is adorable and I am sure it will soon hang on my daughter's door very soon.

There are lots of puzzles inside, including wordsearches; dot to dot pictures; spot the difference and pictures to colour. There are also over 400 stickers, the larger proportion of which include the cute puppies. There is also a story written by Holly Webb included within the book.

This book would be a perfect gift to give to someone who is going on a long journey - only pencils, crayons etc need to be added to make a great boredom buster, or would be great as a rainy day idea.

I think this would be perfect for children aged 7+.
